A vibrant abstract piece featuring bold colors and expressive forms, with hearts and plant-like shapes interwoven around the central figure of a monkey. The blend of reds, greens, and browns creates a lively and dynamic composition.
From the artist: 'This is a loose sketch inspired by my early childhood memories of macaque monkeys in Macau and Hong Kong. Even though the baboon emerged as I drew, with its more elongated nose, it made perfect sense as both the baboon and macaque belong to the "Old World Monkeys" genus and share very close relation. Maybe the intuitive reminder here was how closely we are ALL related — that these creatures are our elders by millions of years — and that we need to remember this to share a home in equilibrium. These are amazing, highly intelligent and adaptable primates, which I so often saw carrying their babies around; clearly matriarchal and nurturing. I wanted to bring some love their way by sharing this sketch.' —Dianna Hardy
